“…its all paint….when people see paintings they believe in whatever it is they are seeing on the canvas…. but what they are really seeing is a really thin layer of dirt with a binder in it…..and those dirts are colored…but I believe that we understand color and form as a kind of reality.. that they are not really abstract.. they are based on a they way we navigate our worlds…so that like a blue might make us think of water…or a soft sweater…any number of things. So even though my works are not portraits or landscapes…or a recognizable place in a traditional way… I believe that they are real places…places of our mind or our imagination…  ”   – Squeak Carnwath
